Malantubas is a low, spreading undershrub. It has slender and subterete twigs that are pubescent when young. Furthermore, it has 9 x 3 cm narrowly oblong or terminal leaves. The smaller leaves appear lanceolate. Each leaf is glabrous except the midrib. The leaves with obscure nerves are acuminate. Each leaf has an acute to broadly obtuse base. Moreover, the leaves are arranged in a much-ascending manner. Malantubas leaves have 1 cm long petioles and puberulent, forked or pectinate stipules. Also, the species has whitish flowers that are sessilely clustered or upon very short stalks in leaf axils. These flowers are puberulent or glabrous and subtended by bracts. Each flower has an elongated, lobed and campanulate calyx. Its corolla, on the other hand, is a little longer than the calyx. Its limb has oblong limbs with spreading segments and bilobed stigmas. Malantubas has green fruits that are characterized as glabrate and subglobose. Each fruit is terminated by an old apiculate calyx. Lastly, each fruits is finely divided into 2 cocci.(Pancho, J.V and Wm. Sm. Gruezo. 2009. Vascular Flora of Mount Makiling and Vicinity (Luzon: Philippines), Part 3. Philipp. Agric.
