Erysimum aureum Bieberstein (1808: 117) was first described by M. Bieberstein from the forests along the Terek River, between Mozdok and Kizlyar in 1808 (Bieberstein 1808). E. aureum was first found in Turkey during floristic fieldworks around Bayburt province in 2018 - 2020 and herbarium specimens were collected from the discovered populations (Fig. 1).
