Also, the lectotype lacks maxillae, which Silvestri removed but did not include in jar (Crabill handwriting). 1 microscope slide with a head preparation is also present (Paratypus Schendylurus australis Silv. desig.: R. Crabill 7. V. 60 Hamburg). Old type catalogue. Weidner (1960), p. 63, No. 36. Syntypes 2. Type status. Note on file card: “ lectotype and paralectotype design.: Crabill, 7.5.1960 ”. Pereira & Minelli (1995) re-described this species from the paralectotype held at the ZMH and also listed the lectotype, thereby accepting Crabill’s type designations. Note that 3 types are present at the ZMH contra Weidner (1960). Collection remarks. The specimens were collected by the German medical doctor and entomologist Hans Brauns (1857 – 1929). Current systematic position. Schendylops australis (Silvestri, 1907). Order Lithobiomorpha Pocock, 1895 A total of 49 type specimens belonging to 12 original type species or subspecies are preserved at the ZMH. No type material has been lost.
