diagnosis
Diagnosis. Pronotum with two pairs of distinct pits connected by a transverse groove (interrupted at middle and in some species barely discernible); hypostomal ridges nearly reaching posterior tentorial pits; hypomeral ridges complete; anterolateral portions of prosternum laterally distinctly overlapping hypomera; mesoventrite in front of mesocoxae with sharply demarcated median longitudinal carina, which has a distinct posterior tip; mesanepisterna lacking setal brushes. Composition & distribution. Heterotetramelus (Sciacharoides) comprises three Australian species: H. thomsoni (Franz, 1975) comb. n., H. eucalypti (Franz, 1975) comb. n. and H. carteri (Franz, 1975) comb. n.
