Tergivelum baldwinae is an acorn worm enteropneust characterized by its paired back veils, which are each a long projection of the body wall arising at the end of the trunk and extending unattached along 30-50% of trunk.

diagnostic
Rounded body. Head and body separated by clear incision. No ciliary rings present on body. Long proboscis provided by two large and one small terminal lobe. Short median footlobe showing distinct median tubercle. Wings resemble those of Cephalobrachia. Large, triangular anterior tentacles. Proboscis terminated by three large lobes, round in shape. Circular and longitudal muscles are present in such lobes with mouth found between lobes, dorsally. Two tentacles found posterior to the three lobes found of small size and conical shape. Real anterior tentacles found on head at both sides of proboscis bases. Buccal organs, jaw, and radula are absent. [van der Spoel, 1976]
