Second out of three webinars on Georeferencing and related issues for the Spanish-speaking community November 2020.

Webinar 2: Documentation and tools for georeferencing

There are numerous tools and documents that can help the georeferencing process. However, not all of these resources provide the same degree of detail or capabilities to carry out different functions. In this webinar we will present the landscape of tools and documents available for georeferencing, their ranges of action, advantages and disadvantages of using each one. In addition, and in particular, we will present the new georeferencing documents, published by the GBIF Secretariat in 2020: Georeferencing Best Practices (Chapman & Wieczorek 2020), Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide (Zermoglio et al. 2020), and Georeferencing Calculator Manual (Bloom et al. 2020). Details will be given on the content and how to use the documents when tackling the georeferencing of biological records.

The second hour of the seminar will be used as a discussion and consultation session.

This series is a part of the project Tackling the spatial challenge in the Southern Cone through georeferencing training CESP2019-014
under the CESP programme.
