The Gaia Guide initiative offers access to field guides and species descriptions from its website but also through android and iOS mobile applications. The information about the location of species is obtained from other initiatives such as Atlas of Living Australia, WORMs or ITIS (GBIF to be included soon). Users can also contribute to the guides with new information.
Gaia Guide assists with in-the-field determinations of what group an observed specimen belongs to. To support this function, it includes descriptions of the possible groups that the specimen might belong to. Each description is comprised of a set of characteristics of the group.
