The University of Vigo, founded in 1990, is a public university in Galicia, in the north-west of Spain. It has three campuses: the main one in Vigo and two others in Pontevedra and Ourense. With around 22,000 students and 200 research groups, UVigo is known for its significant scientific output. The University of Vigo offers undergraduate courses in Biological Sciences, Marine Sciences, Environmental Sciences and Forestry, as well as Masters and Doctoral programmes related to biodiversity research, contributing to the knowledge of biodiversity at regional, national and international levels. The Centre for Marine Research of the University of Vigo (UVigo-CIM) is a key part of the University's marine strategy and is renowned for its interdisciplinary marine research. CIM's mission is to promote the conservation and sustainable use of marine resources through science and innovation. In the field of marine biodiversity, UVigo-CIM is developing the following lines of research: biodiversity, management and conservation of flora and fauna, biology of marine organisms, deep-sea benthic fauna, conservation genetics, genetics of marine organisms, bioinformatics, etc.Contacts
