Description

Research unit Tropical Mycology and Plant-Soil fungi Interactions (MyTIPS) is a laboratory of the Faculty of Agronomy of the University of Parakou dedicated to the study of fungi and the implications and applications of the results thereof. This research unit mainly focuses on (i) Molecular taxonomy, systematic and evolution of tropical fungi, (ii) assessing natural production of wild edible fungi and ecosystem service by fungi, (iii) mycorrhizal symbiosis and Plant-Soil Fungi interactions in the face of climate change (iv) Carbon stock measurement and monitoring and contribution of EcM fungi, (iv) Capacity building in biological (fungi-based) agriculture, (v) domestication and production of edible fungi. Also, its scope includes applied issues such as fungi biodiversity loss, land degradation and climate change based on ecological research. We are committed to representing fungal research from under-represented regions such as woodland ecosystems, especially those in West Africa. The Research unit Tropical Mycology and Plant-Soil fungi Interactions strives to quickly disseminate the results on the occurrence of fungi in Africa through scientific expeditions and checklists resulting from monitoring and publications on West African fungi.
