Description
EBCC is an association of like-minded experts in ornithology, registered under Dutch law, cooperating in a range of ways to improve bird monitoring and mapping projects and inform bird management and conservation in Europe. More than 40 European countries deliver two nominated delegates (members of the association). The delegates represent the bird monitoring and mapping organisations and/or networks in their country. The day-to-day management of EBCC business and affairs is undertaken by a Board. One of the main objectives of EBCC is to encourage communication and collaboration between organisations, institutions and individuals interested in monitoring bird populations and their distributions in Europe. The EBCC promotes the integration of bird observation data derived from citizen-science projects and the development of rigorous methods to understand the changing ability of European landscapes to support wildlife. The association runs major international citizen-science projects such as the new European Breeding Bird Atlas (EBBA2) and the Pan-European Common Bird Monitoring Scheme (PECBMS).Contacts
