The Institute Botanical Garden of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IBG UB RAS) is the leading research institution of the Urals and adjacent regions of Western Siberia and the Pre-Urals, providing the development of methods and fundamental study of natural flora resources, coordination of research, and substantiation of measures to optimize their conservation, reproduction, enrichment (introduction) and rational use in the economy and socioecology. IBG UB RAS was founded on August 28, 1936. The Institute Botanical Garden has 6 laboratories, which make up two departments - the Botanical Department and the Department of Forest Science, as well as a greenhouse complex and herbarium. Collections of woody and herbaceous plants (including greenhouse plants) number about 4 thousand taxa (species, varieties, forms and varieties). The Institute Botanical Garden UB RAS is the founder and publisher of the international electronic journal Skvortsovia. International Journal of Salikology and Plant Biology. Institute Botanical Garden UB RAS is a member of the non-profit international organization Botanic Gardens Conservation International (BGCI).
