Description

IC5Team consists of a group of 5 researchers (geographers, surveyors and biologists) who have a common interest in Geoinformation, new technologies and their interconnection. The IC5Team members have developed our careers in different environments such as activity within private companies, research groups working in public administration or the world of entrepreneurship. IC5Team has developed IAS Tracker project, a project to get locations of Invasive Alien Species (IAS). This crowdsourced project consist in the Geoportal IASTracker (http://iastracker.ic5team.org/) (to manage, view and control user observations) and a mobile App to submit the IAS observations. One of the main reasons for the loss of biodiversity in the world is the proliferation of invasive alien species. This problem has been studied for many years by many experts, environmental institutions and organizations. Although the impacts of these species are well known, it is often difficult to know their expansion, distribution and especially the first contaminated spot in a spared area. Several studies argue that preventive measures have to be set up to improved the knowledge of the location of an invasive species and its extension. IASTracker aims to achieve any type of public, expert or not, with the common goal of helping to reduce the negative impacts of invasive species on biodiversity, health and economy of the affected areas.
