Description

Ájtte, the Swedish Mountain and Sami Museum provides a gateway to the high mountains, to Laponia and to the Sami culture. Ájtte tells the story of Sápmi, the land and the people, of life and survival in a demanding climate and environment. Apart from preserving and presenting cultural artifacts Ájtte´s natural history collections comprise mammals, birds, fish, insects, other invertebrates, fungi, mosses, lichens and vascular plants. The primary objective of the collections is to preserve representative reference specimens of mammals and birds.
