Natural History Museum of Ferrara (Italy)

Description

The Natural History Museum of Ferrara was founded in the second half of the 19th century. The official inauguration took place on 26 May 1872. It studies the systematics, taxonomy and ecology of invertebrate communities with focus on Carabid beetles, Syrphidae, Symphyta, bees and allies, systematics and ecology of communities and populations of the Vertebrates, especially Amphibians, Reptiles and small Mammals. It collects insects, Gastropods, Amphibians, Reptiles , small Mammals and hosts collections of birds and terrestrial, freshwater and marine Molluscans and minerals and fossils. The main geographic regions where it carries on its research are the Po River Delta and the Northern Adriatic sea coast. Geological research is focused on Eastern Alps.
