Description

The Amazon State University Herbarium (ECUAMZ) is located at the University`s research station, Centro de Experimentación Investigación y Producción Amazónica (CEIPA), which contain many Research Departments together with a primary forest reserve of around 2,000 hectares, located in high Amazon close to Tena in Napo province. The objective is to improve and maintain a flow of institutional information on mutual cooperation to promote the conservation of plants based on research and education. Actually the herbarium holds a collection of more than 15,000 botanic specimens including 183 families and, more than 800 genres, with 63 type specimens. In our Institution we also have the library, which provides around 2,500 documents regarding specialized literature on plants.
