Description
Lund University Biological Museum is a merger between the Botanical Museum (LD) and the Museum of Zoology (MZLU) at Lund University. The collections were initiated in 1735, when Killian Stobaeus donated his collections to the university. Note the code LD is still used for the botanical collections, while the code MZLU is used for the zoological collections. The museum is divided into three main collections, the botanical collections (vascular plants, mosses, lichens, fungi, and algae), the zoological collections (vertebrates and non-insect invertebrates), and the entomological collections (insects). The collections hold between 10-12 million specimens, and there is a strong Nordic component to them. The collections hold a lot of type material, with an estimate of about 40,000 types, mainly of insects and plants.Contacts
