Description
The Natural History Team at Te Papa, Aotearoa New Zealand’s national museum, cares for comprehensive collections of marine and freshwater fishes, marine mammals, birds, reptiles, fossil vertebrates, molluscs, insects and plants.There are approximately 1.2 million specimen lots in the Natural History. The Natural History collection consists of zoological and botany specimens; with an estimated 700,000 invertebrate lots and 120,000 vertebrate lots in the zoological collections, and an estimated 300,000 lots in the botany collections.
