Museo de Zoología houses the zoological collections of the Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja and include both invertebrate (especially Insecta and Araneae) and vertebrate collections (Ichthyology, Herpetology, Ornithology and Mammalogy Collections).The services provided by MUTPL are as follows: storage of specimens, sample processing, identification of specimens, consultation of collections and databases, research advice and support, issuance of certificates and loans of specimens.Currently in the Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja the Museo de Zoología leads the scientific processes in the field of systematic zoology especially the collection, identification, systematization and phylogenetic studies of invertebrates, amphibians, reptiles and mammals of southern Ecuador.
