Description
The Institute was established by the resolution of the USSR Council of Ministers on May 18, 1989, No. 413. The main goal of the Institute is to conduct scientific research, provide services and activities related to environmental and pollution monitoring, and to hydrometeorology and related fields in general. Biodiversity and productivity changes that occurring in surface water bodies ecosystems in Russia and are driven by pollution of the natural environment and anthropogenic climate change are one of the direction of research. Scientific research and monitoring of the bioindicator’s response to environmental pollution and anthropogenic climate change are carried out. The Institute carries out scientific and methodological guidance for conducting hydrobiological monitoring in surface waters of Russia in the observation network of The Federal Service for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring. The Institute collects, processes and stores information about biodiversity of freshwater ecosystems in Russia.Contacts
