Description

South-Ural botanical garden-institute is one of the largest in the Ural. Its extensive collection fund (4,736 taxa) comprise both species of local flora and exotic plants from other continents. There is a herbal collection in the garden, consisting of about 3000 examples of plants of the steppe zone of the Southern Ural and adjacent territories, as well as synanthropic and allien species. Researchers are engaged in vegetation science, plant ecology and also the conservation and reproduction of rare plant species in botanical garden conditions, for subsequent projects on their reintroduction into natural communities.
