Description

The research at the Institute of Evolutionary Biology (University of Warsaw) is focused on the evolution and biodiversity of various groups of eukaryotic organisms. We use diverse research techniques - from paleontology, anatomy, and morphology, to molecular biology and bioinformatics - to assess the contemporary and historical diversity of organisms on Earth. We study the evolution of various groups of organisms (algae, fungi, animals, flowering plants) integrating genetic, morphological, physiological, paleontological, geological, geographical, and environmental data. We collect materials during excavations, field trips, and visits to herbariums.
