Description

The Center of Applied Ecology and Sustainability (CAPES) is a scientific and technological research center of excellence that emerged in July 2014 with Basal Funds from the National Agency of Research and Development from Chile (ANID-PIA). CAPES main mission is to carry out applied research on environmental issues relevant to the sustainable development of Chile, in the international context of OECD standards (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) and international free trade agreements. CAPES scientists belong to different Chilean universities and to private or public corporations. Our lines of research are: (1) environmental impacts of metals and soil reclamation, (2) bioengineering approaches to environmental protection and sustainable technologies, (3) physiology of global change, (4) population dynamics, global change and socio-ecological sustainability, (5) sustainable management of natural resources and research on public policies, (6) ecological intensification for sustainable agriculture and (7) ecosystem services and human behavior.
