Yugyd Va National Park

Description

Total area is almost 20 000 square kilometers. The eastern border of the Park goes along the main ridge of the Ural Mountains –the border between Europe and Asia. In the south the Park borders on the Pechoro-Ilychsky Natural Biosphere Reserve. The Park was established in 1994 on the western slopes of the Northern and Subpolar Urals in order to preserve the unique natural complexes having great ecological, historical and recreational value. Yugyd Va National Park was inserted on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1995 together with Pechoro-Ilychsky Natural Biospheric Reserve, under the common name «Virgin Komi Forests".
