University of São Paulo (USP) is one of the major institutions of higher learning and research in Brazil, and is responsible for educating a large part of Brazilian Masters and Ph.Ds. The SPF Herbarium is one of its three herbaria. It holds important collections of marine algae and Brazilian campo rupestre plants, as well as some angiosperm groups, such as Annonaceae, Bignoniaceae, Eriocaulaceae, Rutales and Velloziaceae. Its associated Xylarium (SPFw) is among the most important in Brazil.
