Description

The University of Murcia origins date back to medieval times, being Murcia a cultural melting pot. It is the 10th oldest university in Spain. The University has experienced a great growth on student population, academic offer, research activities and university facilities in the last two decades. It is composed by 5 campuses 31,412 undergraduate students 1,569 postgraduate students 2,489 professors 1,088 administrative staff. Currently, it offers 59 undergraduate programmes 71 master programmes 54 doctoral programmes. The Aquatic Ecology research group belongs to the Department of Ecology and Hydrology, placed at the Faculty of Biology of the University of Murcia. The main research fields we are developing are faunistic and taxonomy of aquatic beetles and bugs, ecology and biogeography of aquatic insects, areas and species with conservation interest, structure and function of inland saline ecosystems, ecophysiology ecohydrology, biotic indicators and river restoration.
