PathWest, Laboratory Medicine WA, is the single public pathology provider in Western Australia. PathWest was created on the 15 July 2005 and is headed by a Chief Executive. The pathology laboratories at Royal Perth Hospital, Fremantle Hospital, PathCentre located at QE11 Medical Centre, remote and rural laboratories and the merged pathology services at King Edward Memorial and Princess Margaret Hospitals were amalgamated to form the new entity. The primary focus for this single pathology service is unity of purpose: to deliver efficiencies while enabling the planned development of specialist services and maintaining its current commitment to a healthy future for all Western Australians.
