Description
The Institut Pasteur de la Guyane is a french institute. Its main mission is to help prevent and treat diseases. It is structured around research, public health initiatives, education and training. The institute approaches research in an integrated way thanks to the complementarity of multidisciplinary teams (virologists, entomologists, parasitologists, doctors, veterinarians, epidemiologists ...) according to three axes: (1) an axis on arboviruses that are studied using a vector approach. Epidemiology and remote sensing are also used. (2) an axis on the biodiversity of viruses and their reservoirs as well as on understanding the mechanisms of emergence and re-emergence that are analyzed from genomic, immunological, proteomic and bioinformatic perspectives. (3) an axis on malaria is finally approached following a vectorial approach supplemented by molecular researches on the resistance of the parasite. The goal is to leverage the findings to help governments adjust their infectious and emerging disease control programs based on scientific evidence.Contacts
