Description
The Regional historical, cultural and ecological center ("Eco-center") was established as a town' historical museum in 1989 in Megion, Khanty-Mansi autonomous okrug-Yugra. Its part - an outdoor ethnographic museum of a tribal community "Kazamkiny" was opened in 1990 in 40 km North from Megion, nearby "Possen-Lor" lake. Later this area was expanded and currently includes 30 ha of the "Ethnographic and ecological park "Yugra" where education and research activities in the field of biodiversity studies are organized. Field-biology student practices are held using park' infrastructures, among others, which accumulates biodiversity-related data in the area. The park has three employed researchers, including a lichenologist. The Eco-center has large collection of specimens from different disciplines, including archaeology, natural sciences, history, ethnography, library, and others. Totally about 20 thousand specimens stored, including about 600 of natural history collection specimens. The biological collection includes herbarium sheets, stuffed animals and the collection of lichens.Contacts
