Institute of Geography, Russian Academy of Sciences is the oldest (founded in 1918) and the largest Russian research center in physical and economical geography. The Biogeography Laboratory conducts biogeographic analysis and forecasting of the state of Russia's biodiversity. Database Maintenance: protected areas and their biota, the distribution of some rare species, alien plant species and quarantine insect species, fossil finds of mammals in Europe (8 - 24 thousand years ago)
