Description

The National Botanical Garden of Viña del Mar is located on the periphery of Viña del Mar. It has about 1000 acres site and with about 80 acres with more than 280 species of trees, including one of the few documented plant collections that has been extinct in the wild (Sophora toromiro from Easter Island). Over 1200 plant species are cultivated on the National Botanical Garden and about 300 native plant species are growing on its natural hills. With nearly 700,000 people by year, the National Botanical Garden is becoming a destination tourist provide to visitors a great range of cultural and recreational activities. It has a environmental education program taught to 12,000 children and students with guided tours by specialized groups.The structure of National Botanical Garden includes herbarium (acronym:JBN), laboratory of plant systematics and evolution, nursery of native plant propagation, and specialized library
