The project contributes to the conservation of bird species in Benin by enhancing data available on the species. It is implemented by a team of three scientists with skills in biodiversity data mobilization and management, with support from the GBIF node in Benin.
At least 3,000 occurrence records of bird species from Benin will be published through GBIF.org, following training sessions on data publishing, ecological niche modelling, and mapping of key areas for bird conservation.
The project team organized an information meeting to introduce their project to relevant staff and to increase awareness about biodiversity data mobilization.
A representative of the project team attended the Workshop on capacity building in biodiversity data mobilization organized as a part of the BID national and regional project in Benin, and presented the project’s goals and activities.
920 occurences data on bird observations in W and Pendjari Reserves in Benin were digitized and published.
