Preservation and Use of Hunting Records Workshop, Gaborone

This second awareness workshop on the preservation and use of hunting records was held at the University of Botswana in Gaborone. The workshop aimed to update a cross-section of stakeholders from government organisations, NGOs, and members of the private and tertiary education sector about the project of the progress with the mobilisation and preservation of trophy hunting data.

Topics from the workshop covered:

  • An introduction to the project
  • Processing and publishing of hunting records in the Integrated Publishing Toolkit (IPT)
  • Using hunting records to support wildlife management
  • Making hunting records and data permenantly available

From the presentations by project members, the workshop allowed for discussion and contributions from the 37 participants on the greater use of biodiversity sharing in Botswana.
