This meeting is in connection with the project BIFA project Mobilizing data on ecologically important insects in Malaysia and Singapore project funded by the Biodiversity Information Fund for Asia (BIFA).

The Tropical Ecology and Entomology Lab NTU convened a meeting with our GBIF-BIFA project collaborator, Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum LKCNHM on the 29 of November 2021 to reveal more about GBIF and our general project outline.

Organised by Dr. Eleanor Slade and museum officer Ang Yu Chen, the meeting involved Project Officer Marx Yim giving a presentation on GBIF, the objectives of the project, how it is to be executed and the ongoing processes in place. The meeting also involved understanding the resources available at the museum and how it can be utilised effectively for the project. Discussions on taxonomy, funding and other potential collaborations were also exchanged. Among those present were PhD candidates Ong Xin Rui (NTU - Tropical Ecology and Entomology Lab) and Sean Yap (NUS - Reproductive Evolution Lab). Their research focuses on dung beetles, the focal taxa of this project.

This meeting is expected to take place recurrently throughout the project implementation phase.
