Add to calendar
3 - 7 December 2018
15:00 - 23:00 CET

Biodiversity informatics consists of the application of computer science methods to the organization, access, visualization and analysis of biodiversity data. In the last decade, Colombia has established itself as a leader in the region in the management and publication of biodiversity data, catalyzing research activities and new platforms that make use of this information for the generation of new knowledge.

This symposium will give detail to the recent advances in biodiversity informatics in Colombia, especially in terms of publication, access, use and relevance of them in environmental decision making. Likewise, this event will provide a discussion on the challenges and opportunities surrounding the discipline in Colombia over the next four years.

The event will feature a talk from the Capacity Enhancement Support Programme, 'Extending tools for improving biodiversity data quality to Spanish-speaking communities' on the outcome of the CESP project, biodiversity informatics and how data quality has become a major concern within the community.
