Biodiversity data capture, cleaning and management

The Tropical Plant Exploration Group (TroPEG) Cameroon organized a second workshop in collaboration with GBIF, Biodiversity Institute of the University of Kansas, USA, and the department of Plant Physiology, University of Buea, Cameroon. This workshop was held as a part of a GBIF BID project, Mobilization of Biodiversity Data Related to Protected Areas and Threatened Species in Western Cameroon.

20 stakeholders, 23 partipants and 4 trainers attended the workshop. The opening speech was held by Prof. Mih Mathias, the Head of Department for Botany and Plant Physiology. During the four-day workshop several topics were touched, including data management, mobilization, processing, publishing, and ecological niche modelling. The workshop also has presentations on data capture with BRAHMS (Botanical Research and Herbarium Management System) software, data cleaning with OpenRefine, and Quantum Global Information System (QGIS) software.
