5 - 9 December 2011

The GBIF Secretariat organized a 5-day online discussion as a follow-up from the ‘training course on biodiversity data publishing and fitness-for-use in the GBIF Network’ held in Argentina in September 2011. The participants of the event, the trainers, the GBIF Secretariat staff and many other interested parties had the opportunity to continue the discussions started during the course about biodiversity data publishing and its planning process, and in particular about data quality and fitness-for-use issues. Please consult the agenda of the original workshop for the list of topics addressed there.

The discussion was held in the GBIF community site, through the ‘biodiversity data publishing interest group’ (please find the link in the resources section below).

More than 300 people from 45 different countries followed the discussions online, while 21 of them from 8 countries actively contributed to the discussions with posts. The list of contributions and contributors, together with a summary of each of them can be found in the event report (also available in the resources section below).
