The workshop will highlight the Crop Wild Relatives (CWR) use case developed under the Biodiversity Digital Twin project and its integration into the Destination Earth (DestinE) with the AgroClim service. Participants will be introduced to the CWR Digital Twin and explore the graphical user interface developed to enable selecting novel genetic resources from CWRs to enhance crop resilience. They will also see a live demonstration of how to access climate resources from EUMETSAT and DestinE.
The event will also explore GBIF’s central role as a research data infrastructure, with a focus on agrobiodiversity and particularly approaches for enhancing taxonomic backbones to include sub-species crop categories.
The workshop will conclude with forward-looking discussions on building future projects for agrobiodiversity and climate resilience.
