This Results Sharing Meeting of the BIFA project "Mobilizing Occurrence data of alien and endemic plant species of Nepal", Project ID BIFA3_025) was held on 22 May 2019 at the Central Department of Botany, Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu.
The objectives of the workshop were to:
- inform the stakeholders about the state of Nepalese biodiversity data publication in GBIF network; and
- share outcomes and lessons learned from the BIFA project in Nepal on digitization of the herbarium database of alien and endemic plants of Nepal among stakeholders involved in biodiversity conservation and management.
The meeting was attended by 46 participants, representing government offices (Department of Plant Resources, Forest Research and Training Center, National Herbarium and Plant Laboratory, National Botanic Garden), conservation organizations (National Trust for Nature Conservation NTNC, International Center for Integrated Mountain Development ICIMOD), Tri-Chandra College, the Central Department of Tribhuvan University (Botany, Zoology). Also in attendance were the Node Manager of GBIF at ICIMOD, and Prof. Ram Prasad Khatiwada, Dean of the Institute of Science and Technology, Tribhuvan University as chief guest.
