The purpose of this workshop was to disseminate knowledge aquired from two capacity building sessions held in Kigali (Rwanda) and Contonou (Benin) in order to facilitate the mobilization of data. Training and facilitation was provided by two researchers who attended the prior workshops and were representing the two GBIF funding structures.

Topics of the workshop included:

  • Introduction to the project & workshop context
  • Transfer of key knowledge points aquired from prior workshops

The initial phase of the workshop was focused around training using the five key points aquired from the previous workshops. Training was given on the prerequisties for digitisation, how to plan a digitisation project, how to digitise biodiversity data, processing and formattting and publishing data using the IPT.

Information on a regional BID project concerning eight African countries was presented which had relevance for the development of Côte d'Ivoire as a node manager. The presentation led to some interesting discussions and exchanges between participants.
