This webinar presents the results of the case studies carried out for the validation of the dwc extension aimed at documenting information on sociobiodiversity, within the scope of CESP015-2024.

This project, coordinated by the Brazilian GBIF Node (MCTI/SiBBr), aims to develop a data standard extension to organize socio-biodiversity information. The initiative is carried out in partnership with the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden Research Institute (JBRJ), the Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi (MPEG), and the South American GBIF nodes—GBIF Argentina and SiB Colombia.

The project focuses on structuring information that links scientific and vernacular names of species to their associated uses, cultural relevance, and other socio-biodiversity attributes. It also includes the development of a glossary of key terms related to socio-biodiversity, supporting harmonization and interoperability across datasets. By improving how socio-biodiversity information is represented and shared, the project enhances the accessibility, standardization, and usability of these data within the GBIF network.
