Monkeys were counted along transects using standard primate census techniques twice a month for nine months, starting October 2011. Transect lines (Buckland, Plumptre, Thomas, & Rexstad, 2010) were established in each forest patch along which monkey censuses were conducted. The number and length of the transects was dependent on the size of the forest patch, following the longest distance across the forest. The census was done between 0700hrs and 1100hrs and later between 1500hrs to 1900hrs since the monkeys tend to be more active in the early morning and late afternoon (Davies & Hoffmann, 2002). During each census, the transect was walked at approximately 1km/hr and all observed monkeys were recorded.Taxonomic Coverages
