This dataset includes 53 specimen records of Japanese mud shrimp collected from 8 mud flat sites in Japan from June 2020 to July 2022. This study is published as an open access paper in the ZooKeys at https://doi.org/10.3897/zookeys.1182.105030.Sampling Description
Study Extent
Japanese mud shrimps were collected from 8 mud flat sites in Japan from June 2020 to July 2022.Sampling
Samples were collected during the period of September 2021 to July 2022 from five sites in eastern and northern Japan by brush and yabbie pump (Poseidon, Aichi, Japan) during low tide. The sampling sites are Lake Notoro and Lake Akkeshi, Hokkaido, Mangoku-ura, Lagoon (or Inlet), Miyagi, Matsukawa-ura, Lagoon, Fukushima and Sanbanze, Chiba. In addition, Japanese mud shrimp purchased during the period of June 2020 to September 2021 from the following areas at Mikawa Bay, Aichi, Kojima Bay, Okayama, and Arao, Kumamoto were stored in -25 ℃ immediately after collection.Quality Control
Scientific names were checked against the World Register of Marine Species (WoRMS 2023). Geographical coordinates were validated using GSI maps provided by Geospatial Information Authority of Japan and Google Maps.Method steps
- Site selection.
- Sampling site and date recorded.
