The seagrass data monitoring and mapping is conducted at various sites in Solomon Islands under the CMS/GEF Dugong/Seagrass project. It provides a much –valued opportunity to promote community-based conservation of dugong and seagrass in the Solomon Islands. The main focus area of the project for Solomon Islands is to; raise national awareness of the importance of dugong in Solomon Islands culture and of seagrass as a mitigation against climate change impacts, promoting the role of Locally Managed Marine Areas in the conservation of seagrass and dugong, mapping of seagrass meadows and managing these activities through a National Coordinating CommitteeSampling Description
Study Extent
The study area or the sampling area for the monitoring data covers various sites in Solomon Islands including, Tetepare island (Western Province), Kmaga (Isable Province) and in Marau (Guadalcanal Province)Sampling
The method of collecting is basically using transect, using checklist (seagrass watch) for identification and general observation.Quality Control
