Coenoflora of Carici iljinii-Pinetum sibiricae var. Betula rotundifolia Ermakov 2014 communities, recorded along the Abaza-Ak-Dovurak route

Description

The dataset includes the list of plant species registered in 7 releves of association Carici iljinii-Pinetum sibiricae var. Betula rotundifolia made along the Abaza-Ak-Dovurak route.

These forests prevail in the upper part of the forest belt on both (northern and southern) macroscopes of the western part of the West Sayan. The tree layer is composed of Pinus sibirica; due to the lack of warmth trees are low and more sparse: their height is 10-14 m, density - 0.4-0.5. Betula rotundifolia dominates in the shrub layer. The sparse herb-shrub layer is made up of patches of Vaccinium myrtillis, Empetrum nigrum and rare shoots of Carex iljinii, Festuca sphagnicola. Moss-lichen layer is thick and composed of Pleurozium schreberi, Hylocomium splendens, Polytrichum commune, Cladonia stellaris, C. arbuscula, and C. rangiferina. *For mosses and lichens, only the most widespread species are included in the list.

Sampling Description

Study Extent

Summary list of species for a series of geobotanical releves of similar forest communities.

Sampling

The traditional method of geobotanical research was used.

Method steps

  1. Each releve was made on an area of 20 x 20 m

Taxonomic Coverages

Geographic Coverages

The West Sayan mountain ridges form sublatitudinal line. Mostly forest West Sayan is adjacent to steppe landscapes of South Minusinsk Basin from the north and of Khemchik Basin - from the south. The heights of these basins are 400-500 on the north side and 1200-1300 on the south one. The West Sayan is asymmetrical one; the width of the northern macroslope is twice as long as the southern one. Two macroslopes of the Western Sayan belong to different bioclimatic sectors: the northern macroscope - to the humid sector, the southern macroscope – to the semihumid one. The western part of the West Sayan southern macroslope is located in the “rain shadow”, so its vegetation is similar to the semiarid bioclimatic sector one. Forests predominate on the main part of the studied territory. The northern and southern macroslopes of the West Sayan western part have differ in belt spectra and altitudinal marks of the belt boundaries. On the northern macroslope, the forest belt covers the main area and extends from foothills (500 m) to near top (2000 m). The forest-steppe landscapes (1300-1700 m) form the southern macroslope low part, the forest belt cover its upper part (1700 - 2100 m). Their forests belong to 8 associations of floristic classification.
