NDFF European hamster survey Limburg

Citation

van Noorden B, de Kruif T (2018). NDFF European hamster survey Limburg. Dutch National Database of Flora and Fauna (NDFF). Metadata dataset https://doi.org/10.15468/u7noen accessed via GBIF.org on 2023-06-08.

Description

Surveys of hamster burrows have been carried out in Southern Limburg since 1996, commissioned by the Limburg provincial department. From 1996 to 2007, inventories were taken right after harvest; since 2008, inventories are also taken during the winter, when harvest remains have disappeared and the burrows can be found more easily. This only applies to fields under the hamster management programme (the harvest remains in place) and the summer survey takes place on regular grain fields. Hamster burrows from before 2007 were added to the NDFF earlier by the NHGL as individual mammal observations. Apart from the burrow coordinates, other details are also reported (if available): crop, number, number of sloping holes and vertical holes, and, if possible, the code of the tracker that observed the hamster. Dataset available via https://www.ndff.nl/english / serviceteamndff@natuurloket.nl Positive observations without zeros. Number of observations: 3,081 https://www.ndff.nl/overdendff/validatie/protocollen/17-004-hamsterinventarisatie-provincie-limburg/
