Inventario herpetofaunístico del noroeste de Hidalgo

Las zonas áridas y semiáridas del Estado de Hidalgo cubren cerca del 50% de la superficie del estado; sin embargo, son escasos los estudios herpetofaunísticos en vegetación con matorral xerófilo. La eco-región denominada "Lomeríos y planicies del altiplano con matorral xerófilo y pastizal" se encuentra ubicada al noroeste de Hidalgo e incluye municipios como Zimapán, Tecozautla y Taquillo, por lo que se propone realizar un inventario de los anfibios y reptiles en estos tres municipios. A la fecha se tienen registradas 16 familias, 7 de anfibios y 9 de reptiles; 37 géneros, 8 de anfibios y 31 de reptiles y 50 especies, 12 de anfibios y 38 de reptiles, pero de acuerdo con trabajos recientes es posible que se encuentren nuevos registros para la zona. Se elaborará un listado de la herpetofauna de la región y se analizará la diversidad alfa y beta utilizando la riqueza de especies. Asimismo, se realizará una base de datos y un catálogo de las especies registradas que servirá como base para la difusión del conocimiento de estos organismos.
