Records of amphibians and reptiles on the territory of the Medobory Nature Reserve and its vicinities nearby during field studies from 1994 to 2023

Study Extent

The research was conducted during 1994-2023 on the territory of the Medobory Nature Neserve and its nearest vicinities (within the Tovtry range and adjacent territories). Data on the occurrence of animals were collected, mainly, by the authors of the records. Some of the records were recorded by scientists of the reserve, employees of the state security service and residents of nearby settlements.

Sampling

The species of animals were identified visually during regular route records and observations, followed by in-camera processing in accordance with the Nature Chronicle Program for nature reserves and national natural parks (https://zakon.rada.gov.ua/rada/show/v465_737-02#n12 ). The detected places are geolocated using GPS devices and freely available Google Earth and the online service www.google.com.ua/maps/.

Method steps

1. Conducting of field research (route counts, regular field expeditions and collecting data from scientists and local residents).
2. Visual registration of the species for better identification.
3. Collecting of the obtained data in the Annals of Nature of the reserve.
4. Georeferencing.
5. Organizing of the dataset according or to Darwin Core requirements.

The dataset covers the territory of Medobory Nature Reserve and the nearest surrounding areas within Tovtry strand (Chortkiv and Ternopil districts of Ternopil region, Ukraine) and 1 point from Khmel'nyts'kyi region.
