completing a nation-wide inventory of all clitellates that started already in 2011. The worms are collected in the sea, streams, rivers, lakes, ponds and springs, and in soil and wet sand on land: thousands of individuals from hundreds of localities have been investigated. Species identification has been done by a combination of light microscope examination of specimens mounted on microcope slides, and by comparing the worms’ “DNA barcodes”, i.e., a method where short parts of an unknown organism’s DNA are compared with DNA from known species in a quality assured DNA library.Sampling Description
