Description

Measurements of elephant tusk trophies taken in Botswana in the year 2004.

Purpose

This project, a time-sensitive data rescue exercise, is intended to ensure continued access to legacy biodiversity data related to animals formerly hunted in Botswana.

Sampling Description

Study Extent

Controlled Hunting Areas northern Botswana.

Sampling

Elephants were shot with rifles.

Quality Control

Tusk weights and measurements recorded by trophy dealer as suitable for record books.

Method steps

Trophies were measured, weighed and data entered into Excel spreadsheet by the trophy dealer, Mochaba.
