The collection of arachnids and myriapods of the MNRJ is the most important in Latin America, housing about 2,000 type specimens. The collection of Opiliones is the second most important in the world, with around 40,000 registered specimens.Purpose
To serve as repository for biodiversity in the World, especially Brazil.
